Kid…You’re A Natural

Here is a colage of new and note-worthy (or in a few cases, just note-worth and iconic) girlies from the blogesphere…between the face, the hair and the style…everyone of these beauties is battin’ a 10

The first and last are my faves…

Compassion Begins In You

I read an insightful passage the other day; I believe it was written by a doctor, a woman, who has a one year old baby girl…

The article addressed how being a mother has turned this doctor’s patient-relations upside down. Specifically, when she meets with her patients (rather than seeing their flaws or their illness) she sees a baby picture of them in her mind. She simply can’t help but be struck by the fact that every patient is someone’s baby (kinda a cliché, I know, but she was very genuine in her statement)… That before the junk food and obesity, before the cancer, before the drinking and driving, before the risky sexual behavior and the drug use… Someone rocked that person in their arms and wished the world for them; someone looked down at that baby as they slept and imagined how they would change the world.

My yoga teacher has incorporated an element of this in our Dharma practice. She instructs us too look inside ourselves any time that we have a dispute with someone, or get frustrated by a car cutting us off in traffic…’That person is just as human as you are…and just like you, they want so desperately to be happy”.

I don’t know about you, but I can be pretty hard on myself. This way of thinking has helped me to be more compassionate with myself, as well as with others. When I get really down, I just look in the mirror and think “You are a human…and just like every other human…you want so much to be happy…and you’re doing the best you can”

Just something to think about. Some nice thoughts to sprinkle in there among the sludge…
